Manager of Training & Operating Compliance (Southern Region)
R. J. Corman Railroad Company is actively hiring a Manager of Training and Operating Compliance for the Southern region.
Accountability:
Develop and advance safety performance and operating practices of existing and future R.J. Corman Railroad Company short lines and switching locations. Provides guidance to Operations Managers in the areas of company operating procedures and federal requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Training and mentoring Locomotive Engineers, Operators and Conductors to make recommendations to improve performance
- Conduct new-hire classes
- Knowledge of operating rules, safety and compliance
- Oversee, evaluate and document the On-The-Job training of new-hire locomotive Engineers, Operators and Conductors
- Conduct operating rules classes annually and administer Engineer and Conductor recertification
- Conduct regular locomotive simulation training for locomotive engineers and operators for analysis and makes recommendations for the safe and efficient operation of trains.
- Respond to service disruptions within area of responsibility
- Strives to achieve safe, efficient, on-time train operations by assisting with the development of best train handling practices.
- Engineer and Conductor certification desired
- D.S.L.E qualification desired
- Responsible for the Southern Region R.J. Corman properties in the execution of duties.
Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or
Education and Experience:
- 5+ years in railroad transportation operations with experience in the management of service delivery.
- FRA Conductor and Engineer certifications are required.
- Training and communication skills with demonstrated experience with all levels of personnel; and fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires pulling, controlling, and maneuvering onto and off equipment
- Perform a rapid, horizontal hand torque action with a force of 150 lbs
- Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 80 lbs
- Able to walk, climb, and maintain balance on ladders and uneven terrain in a safe manner
Environmental Conditions:
Performs many duties in job-site environments, in and around moving locomotives, railcars, vehicles and equipment. Frequent exposure to weather elements; and appropriate PPE required for job site visits.
Major or Unusual Problems:
Maintenance of teamwork to achieve operational standards and objectives. Achieving timely and expedited performance often in situations beyond the control of the operation.
Job Dimensions:
Performs job under minimal supervision, planning and managing operating procedure objectives, audits, and maintenance or all recordkeeping for operating practice procedures.
