Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic will work with the engineering team to safely install, maintain, repair, and upgrade industrial food equipment and devices.
Responsibilities- Report food safety and quality problems to authorized personnel.
- Troubleshoot, repair, adjust, and replace equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, and relay logic systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and communicate breakdown status to shift dispatcher.
- Move equipment and machinery using standard lifting, rigging, hoisting, blocking, skidding, and rolling methods.
- Work safely, cleanly, thoroughly, and professionally.
- Assess situations, develop solutions, and budget time to satisfy work requests.
- Research and compile parts lists necessary to satisfy work requests.
- Adhere to all company and department policies and procedures.
- Complete assigned work in an acceptable and productive timeframe.
- Accurately document information on work orders, including time and parts used.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals to assist in troubleshooting and identifying parts needed for repairs.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with co‑workers and management.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by Manager.
- Wear proper personal protective equipment (uniform, face mask, hair net, latex gloves, bump cap, earplugs, safety shoes).
- Stand on concrete and bend, stoop, twist, and turn for extended periods.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Work weekends during peak season and/or overtime when needed.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2‑year technical degree in a maintenance field or minimum of 5 years of experience in a maintenance field, with at least 2 of those years in a food processing or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to use simple math and read/follow instructions.
- Ability to take measurements and troubleshoot problems with minimal supervision.
- Read electrical schematics and diagrams.
- Understand and troubleshoot mechanical equipment and machinery.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective professional interaction.
- Knowledge of bearings, bushings, gear boxes, transmissions, pumps, clutches, hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, relays, motor controls, and related components.
- Set up and operate shop equipment and portable power tools.
