Controller, Accounting, Accounting Manager

About The Opportunity

Our client, a well-established manufacturing company in the Niles, MI area, is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting and finance function. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for financial reporting, month-end close, budgeting, cost accounting, cash management, and partnering with operations to support business decisions.

• Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare accurate financial statements and management reports.
• Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow.
• Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory, variances, and profitability.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Coordinate annual audits and support tax compliance activities.
• Partner with operations and executive leadership to improve financial performance and operational efficiencies.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
• Support ERP enhancements and process improvement initiatives.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CMA preferred).
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
• Manufacturing accounting experience required.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory, and financial reporting.
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
