Niles High School CTE Director
Position Details:
- Reports To:
Building Principal or Designee - Calendar: 215 days (43 weeks)
- Compensation:
Salary commensurate with the credentials and experience of the candidate; tentative starting salary $70,000-$75,000
- A valid teaching certificate in the state of Michigan
- Experience in the field of Career and Technical Education
Preferred Qualifications
- A valid administrative certificate in the state of Michigan
- A valid Career and Technical Education certificate in the state of Michigan
- Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials for any CTE course in which the director is the teacher of record.
- Prepare, administer, and grade assignments in order to evaluate students' progress in any CTE program in which the director is the teacher of record.
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students for any CTE course in which the director is the teacher of record.
- Identify student needs and confere with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, or administrators in order to resolve students' academic needs related to progress in the CTE programs.
- Maintain professional competence through Professional Development activities provided by the district, professional meetings, educational conferences, and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
- Participate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which he/she will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines.
- Supervise students during the assigned working day as needed.
- Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
- Oversee, plan, and/or supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities as needed for CTE courses and programs.
- Conduct evaluation processes with all personnel according to district and state tenure policies, rules, procedures, and contracts.
- Monitor and evaluate student outcomes on standardized testing as related to CTE programs.
- Comply with all school district policies and procedures.
- Ability to align CTE goals and objectives with district and state standards.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all student affairs.
- Maintain regular and on-time attendance.
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal, Central Office Administration, and/or Superintendent of Schools.
- Annual Authorization/Credit tracking
- Provide assessment testing to all eligible CTE students
- Monitor CIP Self Review
- Classrooms and labs are accessible for all students (including disabled individuals)
- Monitor and attend program Advisory Committees to ensure compliance
- Monitor CTE Instructor’s professional development records
- Ensure Gap analysis is complete and aligns with state CTE Program Standards
- 4033 Report
- Follow-up Report
- Review all CTEIS data for accuracy prior to being submitted to the Fiscal Agent
- Provide support to the instructor on gathering the correct information for the new program application
- Post-secondary Partnerships
- Work with colleges to ensure there is a postsecondary articulation and program of study for each CTE program in the district
- Oversees and assists Assistant Principals/Directors with direct credit and/or dual enrollment classes with colleges
- Collaborate/Facilitate with colleges to review certification of instructors for articulated/direct credit
- Share post-secondary updates with instructors and administration
- Student Career Planning
- Collaborate with counselors on student schedules
- Ensure EDP Implementation for 7th-12th-grade students
- Work with College and Career Center personnel to meet the need of college and career-bound students

- Assist with placement, coordination, and maintenance of Work-Based Learning experiences, including:
- Location of prospective partners and training stations
- Evaluation of potential worksites
