Elementary Teacher

Howard Elementary, Eastside Connections, Ballard Elementary

Positions available for the  school year

Reports to:

Building Principal (or designee)

Niles Community Schools is looking for dynamic Elementary Teachers. Highly effective communication skills and professionalism are required for daily interaction with a diverse workforce, student population, building administration, and community.

Required Qualifications:
  • Certified in Elementary Education in the State of Michigan
  • K-8 All subjects Self-Contained Classroom, or
  • Lower Elementary Education (PK–3; ZO), or
  • Upper Elementary Education (3–6; ZP)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Endorsed in academic areas, such as Math, Science, Social Studies, English, etc.
  • Plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students on subject matter, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education, and other appropriate learning methods
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations
  • Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments in order to evaluate students' progress
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials, and provides individualized and small group instruction and varied teaching methods in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the Science of Reading and implements evidence-based literacy practices, including explicit, systematic instruction in phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension
