Reading Interventionist
St. Mary's School is seeking a highly qualified reading interventionist to partner with St. Mary's School in Niles. This very flexible position requires a commitment of 12 hours per week to provide additional support to students who are in need of additional assistance in reaching their reading goals. These would be students identified as in need of Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports.

Che Warner, Principal, St. Mary's, and NCS Assistant Superintendent - Compensation: $30 an hour- 12 hours per week for 36 weeks
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate
- Previous experience in Structured Literacy
- Five years successful experience as a classroom teacher
Performance Responsibilities:
- Analyze NWEA MAP Growth RIT scores alongside DIBELS sub-measure data (e.g., NWF, ORF) to determine specific areas of deficit (Phonological Awareness vs. Decoding vs. Fluency).
- Deliver Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions that follow a logical scope and sequence, focusing on the Big Five:
Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary, and Comprehension. - Utilize orthographic mapping techniques and multisensory strategies to help students move from "sounding out" to automatic word recognition.
- Consult with K-5 teachers to ensure that the foundational skills taught in intervention are being reinforced during "core" Tier 1 instruction.
- Maintain meticulous records of intervention minutes, student attendance, and progress monitoring graphs for IEP/504 meetings or MTSS audits.
- Prepare lessons and materials prior to tutoring sessions.
- Provide brief progress reports at each marking period to parents.
- Send monthly invoices to Niles Community Schools

Qualifications:
Professional dress is required for this position. Blue jeans, sweatpants, and camo are generally not acceptable dress.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit and talk or hear, in addition to being occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to maintain composure and function effectively in a noisy, fast-moving environment and assume responsibility for the safety and well-being of students in that environment.
The employee engages in physical management with students in order to maintain a safe environment for students and others.
