Description
SUMMARY:
We are hiring an Engineering/CAD Operator Apprentice to assist our Engineer 20 - 30 hours weekly 1st shift. In this role, The Engineering / CAD Operator Apprentice supports the engineering and design team by creating, updating, and maintaining technical drawings and documentation using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software. This entry-level apprenticeship provides hands-on training in drafting standards, engineering processes, and manufacturing or construction design practices while developing technical and professional skills.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to learn technical software and processes.
- Operate with a sense of positive energy and urgency.
- Ability to work effectively in both a team and autonomous environment.
- Able to adapt to the company's culture, work safely, and possess a positive attitude.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office
- Coursework in drafting, CAD, engineering
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Solid Works, Inventor, or similar CAD software
- Mechanical aptitude or technical experience
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated with a results-driven approach
- Currently enrolled in a technical, engineering or relevant field

YOUR ROLE:
- Create and revise 2D and 3D CAD drawings under supervision
- Assist engineers and designers with project layouts and technical documentation
- Maintain accurate drawing files, revisions, and records
- Interpret sketches, specifications, and engineering instructions
- Ensure drawings comply with company and industry standards
- Support project teams with measurements, calculations, and material take-offs
- Participate in design reviews and team meetings
- Learn and apply safety, quality, and drafting procedures
- Organize electronic files and maintain document control systems
- Assist with prototype, fabrication, or installation documentation as needed
- Monday thru Friday, minimum 20 hours; flexible schedule between the hours of 8a - 4p.
- Starting $17+; commensurate with experience and knowledge
