SUMMARYDedicated and versatile maintenance technician with two years of commercial facilities experience, specializing in the preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of K-12 school environments. Highly skilled across multiple trades including light plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC/boiler operations. Proven track record of maintaining strict MIOSHA compliance and ensuring campus safety. Adept at managing Michigan’s heavy seasonal demands, from complex HVAC winter prep to large‑scale snow removal.

To perform skilled and semi-skilled labor in the maintenance of District facilities, including grounds keeping, plumbing, mechanical, painting, masonry and basic electrical and wiring work.
QUALIFICATIONS- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of two years of successful building maintenance (five years preferred)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated adaptability, problem-solving abilities, and a willingness to learn new systems
- Proficient in technology and office software; ability to quickly learn new applications
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
Additional duties may be assigned.
Performs the following skilled and semi-skilled tasks in a safe and efficient manner:
- Carpentry
- Plumbing
- Fitting
- Refrigeration
- Glass and Glazing
- Roof Repairs
- Hardware
- Wiring and Electrical
- Motors and Switches
- Grounds Work
- Light Mechanical
- Works on assigned projects, and makes appropriate decisions based on work experience; duties will vary according to job assignment and individual skills
- Follows basic work orders; identifies material and equipment needs for each assigned project, and organizes supplies and equipment
- Maintains grounds, lawns and landscaped areas at district buildings; including playgrounds and sports fields; operates specialized equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures
- Works with Skilled Maintenance Workers on major repair projects as assigned.
- Utilizes proper safety precautions in all work performed; reports problems and emergency situations
- Cleans up spills and unsafe conditions in a timely manner and according to procedures
- Performs maintenance and repairs within scope of authority, and in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; notifies supervisors of repair problems beyond the scope of authority
- Works with District’s architectural firms and consultants in creating plans and specifications for construction projects
- Maintains records and logs of services performed and time and material costs, and prepares written reports as required
- Controls work site to assure that safety rules and regulations are adhered to, and that the work zone and all equipment are in safe operating condition
A valid driver’s license is required. Forklift certification, preferred.
OTHERSKILLS AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in building and grounds maintenance and repair; thorough knowledge of hazards and safety precautions associated with type of work assigned; thorough knowledge of applicable codes, pertinent inspection and safety requirements; thorough knowledge of school environmental problems such as asbestos removal, waste disposal systems, radon testing and related issues; ability to recognize and diagnose problems;
ability to make time and materials estimates; ability to plan and supervise the work of others; ability to work from sketches, blueprints and drawings; ability to maintain records; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials and associates.
