Job Description

POSITION:

  • Career Navigator
    -This position will support students across participating school districts in developing individualized career and academic plans aligned with their interests, strengths, and postsecondary goals.

CONTRACT & SALARY:

  • 1 year, 210 day contract
  • Per administrative salary schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Counseling, Education or related field.
  • Other qualifications of academic, professional and personal excellence as may be specified by the Governing Board.

TCESC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts himself/herself within the mission, beliefs and goals of TCESC.
  • Develops and takes responsibility for individual goal(s).
  • Demonstrates a willingness to accommodate the needs of school districts.
  • Develops and/or implements innovative ideas for educational programming.
  • Maintains confidentiality of both student and personnel information and records.
  • Attends meetings and professional development opportunities such asstate and regional conferences, workshops, and other professional events to ensure knowledge of latest research, best practices, and policy changes.
  • Demonstrates ethical behavior, integrity and honesty.
  • Interacts with individuals on a regular basis to communicate information and remain well-informed.
  • Uses a data-based decision making framework and good judgment when solving problems.
  • Exhibits effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Accepts suggestions and criticism in a constructive manner.
  • Demonstrates faithfulness and promptness in attendance at work.
  • Exhibits care and protection of TCESC and school district property.
  • Adheres to the local board of education and TCESC policies and administrative guidelines.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Support and advise in the development of Student Success Plans (SSPs) for students in grades 712, ensuring alignment with Ohio's graduation pathways and local district goals.
  • Collaborate with school districts to maintain accurate, up-to-date records of student career plans, work-based learning experiences, and credential attainment across programs and partner sites.
  • Provide career exploration and academic advising that supports students in meeting graduation requirements, including endorsements, seals, and industry-recognized credentials.
  • Support at-risk students by collaborating with teachers, families, and administrators to remove barriers to academic and career success.
  • Guide students in understanding postsecondary options, including college, apprenticeships, credentialing programs, and direct workforce entry.
  • Serve as a member of the Business Advisory Council (BAC) to strengthen connections between education and industry.
  • Collaborate with business and community partners to create career exploration, job shadowing, pre-apprenticeship, and internship opportunities for students.
  • Facilitate classroom lessons, support K-12 curriculum as it aligns with industry standards, career fairs, site visits, and guest speaker events that promote awareness of local in-demand industries.
  • Collaborate with school districts to intentionally expand and integrate career awareness programming for students 7-12, aligning activities with district priorities and local workforce needs.
  • Partner with district teams to analyze student data, support and assist progress toward graduation requirements, and evaluate postsecondary readiness indicators to inform instructional and career pathway decisions.
  • Assist in developing communication materials to promote student success stories, business partnerships, and program achievements.
  • Work collaboratively with school counselors, CBI and CTE instructors, and district administrators to ensure compliance with Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW) requirements.
