ScheduleFour-on, Four-off 12-hour shifts (8-8)
Pay Rate$43,000 - $48,000 depending upon experience level
Job PurposeThe Laboratory Technician supports the chemical manufacturing process by performing routine and non-routine laboratory testing on raw materials, in-process batches, and finished products. This role ensures products meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements through accurate analysis, documentation, and reporting. The Laboratory Technician plays a vital role in maintaining product integrity, supporting production teams, and ensuring compliance with internal procedures and ISO/Responsible Care standards.
EssentialJob Duties
- Conduct analytical testing using techniques such as pH measurement, titration, viscosity, specific gravity, refractive index, and other standard quality control methods.
- Assist with the inspection and approval of raw materials and in-process samples to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Accurately document test results and maintain laboratory records in accordance with ISO 9001, EFfCI-GMP, and RC 14001 requirements.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments, ensuring they are in proper working order and suitable for use.
- Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot quality issues and provide timely analytical support.
- Assist with the preparation and standardization of reagents and solutions used in testing.
- Follow safety and environmental procedures for chemical handling, disposal, and spill response.
- Participate in internal audits, quality improvement initiatives, and training activities.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory workspace and storage areas.
- Support development and validation of new testing methods under the supervision of senior staff or chemists.
This position is considered having light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a productive/technical nature.
Physical DemandsThe employee must be able to stand for extended periods while performing laboratory tasks. The employee must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally, such as when moving samples or chemical containers. Fine motor skills and visual acuity are necessary for precision work and equipment handling. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
Work EnvironmentThe employee works primarily in a laboratory setting within a manufacturing facility. The environment includes exposure to chemicals, fumes, and laboratory equipment. Proper safety procedures and protective gear must be used at all times. The role may involve occasional work near production areas or outdoors, depending on testing requirements.
QualificationsAssociate degree in chemistry, chemical technology, or a related scientific field is preferred; bachelor’s degree is a plus. Must have 1 to 3 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in a manufacturing or chemical environment.
