Overview

Primary Tasks & Major

Activities:

Responsible for planning, instructing, and evaluating student learning by implementing the Missouri K-4th grade art curriculum in an enthusiastic and positive manner. Help students develop an appreciation and love for art, highlighting the artistic talents of students. Must be innovative, creative, tap into student interests, and create community partnerships and work collaboratively with other staff members. Accountable for building positive, supportive relationships with students and staff.

Utilize effective classroom management techniques. Work successfully as part of a team/committee in a highly collaborative manner for building-wide benefits outside of the art room. Maintain strong interpersonal relations with staff, students, and parents.

• Prior successful experience with students and art desired.
• Current appropriate Missouri certification and college degree in art.
• Knowledge of the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) and its integration with art.
• Knowledge and use of research-based instructional strategies for the art curriculum for K-4th grades.
• Participate in district and building professional development opportunities.
• Willingness to collaborate with peers across the district.
• Willingness to understand and support the District s Comprehensive School Improvement Plan.
• Must successfully pass a background check and drug test that are satisfactory to the Board of Education.
