Primary Tasks & Major Activities
- Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEP) for students Grades K-6.
- Provide direct, specialized instruction and perform individualized assessment and interpretation.
- Teach life skills and academic skills while applying strong behavior‑management techniques.
- Attend and participate in relevant meetings, staffings, and parent meetings.
- Initiate and complete required paperwork within established timelines.
- Collaborate with staff and individuals regarding student programming and services.
- Delegate and supervise paraprofessional(s) assigned within the classroom.
- Provide individualized and small‑group instruction and co‑teach in a team environment.
- Collect data and manage classroom behavior effectively.
- Support building‑level and district policies.
- Administer MAP/EOC/MAP‑A assessments.
- Certification in K‑12 Special Education (cross‑categorical).
- Knowledge and expertise in working with various eligibility categories.
- Preferred:
Prior teaching experience with students who have high needs and in teaching life skills. - Training in behavior management is required.
- Minimum of three years teaching experience preferred.
- Competent technical skills.
- Regular attendance and positive interpersonal relationships with staff, parents, and students.
- Knowledge of grade‑level and functional curriculum appropriate to the position.
- Preferred:
Experience with the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP‑A). - Willingness to be trained in the appropriate use of seclusion, isolation, and restraint procedures.
- Willingness to understand and support the District’s Comprehensive School Improvement Plan.
- Must successfully pass a background check and drug test satisfactory to the Board of Education.
