Primary tasks and major activities include student instruction/therapy, special education program evaluation and planning, parent and district meetings, student assessment, Medicaid billing, and required paperwork. IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring; individualized and small group student instruction; innovative programming; team member and student assessment; attend/participate in parent meetings; have knowledge of and support the building level and district policies. Documentation of sessions in Therapy Log.
Educational/skills/experience required:
Current Missouri certification through Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and/or licensed through the Missouri Board of Healing Arts. Knowledge of language programs; knowledge of therapeutic speech methods; familiar with Augmentative and Alternative Communication programs/devices; competent in the area of technology; good people skills; knowledge of appropriate grade level curriculum and functional curriculum for Grades PreK-6; familiar with screening, testing, and eligibility requirements for students in preschool.
Knowledge of requirements of Missouri Assessment Program (MAP and MAP-A). Previous experience in school setting preferred. Willingness to understand and support the District's Comprehensive School Improvement Plan. Must successfully pass a background check and drug test that are satisfactory to the Board of Education.
