Primary Tasks & Major Activities
- Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Provide direct, specialized instruction for students.
- Perform student individualized assessment and interpretation.
- Must be able to teach academic skills and exhibit strong skills in behavior management.
- Attend/participate in relevant meetings and staffings.
- Initiate and complete required paperwork within established timelines.
- Collaborate with appropriate staff/individuals regarding student programming and services.
- Delegate and supervise paraprofessional(s) assigned within the classroom.
- Must be a team player.
- Provide individualized and small group instruction and co‑teaching in a team environment.
- Collect data and manage behavior effectively.
- Attend/participate in parent meetings and relevant after‑school and/or evening activities.
- Supervise and evaluate paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom.
- Have knowledge of and support building‑level and district policies.
- Administer MAP and other district assessments.
Educational/Skills/Experience Required
- Certification in K-12 Special Education, cross categorical.
- Knowledge and expertise in working with the various eligibility categories.
- Prefer previous teaching experience in a classroom with students with high needs and teaching life skills.
- Training in behavior management is required.
- Minimum of three years teaching experience preferred.
- Competent technical skills.
- Regular attendance and positive interpersonal relationships with staff, parents, and students.
- Knowledge of appropriate grade-level and functional curriculum associated with the position.
- Knowledge of requirements and prior experience with Missouri Assessment Program preferred.
- Willingness to be trained in appropriate use of seclusion, isolation, and restraint procedures.
- Willingness to understand and support the District's Comprehensive School Improvement Plan.
- Must successfully pass a background check and drug test satisfactory to the Board of Education.
