Incumbent serves as Bookkeeper for Community Corrections, responsible for performing various bookkeeping and clerical functions, and assisting department personnel.

DUTIES:

Receives and processes various receipts, such as participant fees, vending money, refunds, and grant reimbursements, including calculating, collecting, providing receipts, posting in ledger and computer, preparing collections report for Auditor, and preparing/depositing in bank daily.

Maintains manual ledger of payments for all participants, and mails notices of delinquent accounts monthly as needed.

Maintains current fund account balances in manual ledger and computer, and reconciles with Auditor's records monthly. Prepares financial reports as required or assigned

Performs various clerical duties as assigned or as needed, such as preparing correspondence and other documents. Assists department personnel as requested.

Periodically assists Administrative Assistant by preparing and processing department payroll, including reviewing time cards, posting hours worked, calculating and posting leave on attendance record and on computer, and preparing and submitting voucher to Auditor. As well as periodically processing department vouchers, including verifying invoice items and documentation, obtaining vender numbers, determining account numbers, submitting to Auditor, and entering in manual ledger and computer.

Performs related duties as assigned.

I. JOB REQUIREMENTS AND DIFFICULTY OF WORK:

Associate Degree in bookkeeping or related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working knowledge of department policies and procedures and ability to apply such knowledge to a variety of interrelated tasks.

Working knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures, and ability to make relevant arithmetic calculations in processing receipts and expenditures, and maintaining/reconciling related records in manual ledgers and computer spreadsheets.

Ability to type with speed and accuracy, and properly operate a variety of standard office equipment, including computer, printers, telephone, fax machine, switchboard, calculator, paper shredder, laminator, and copier.

Ability to provide public access to or maintain confidentiality of department information/records according to state requirements.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, and appropriately respond to constructive criticism.

Ability to work alone and with others in a team environment, and maintain appropriate, respectful interrelationships with co-workers.

Ability to work on several tasks at the same time, often under time pressure, and complete assignments effectively amidst frequent distractions and interruptions.
