Cost Accountant – Noblesville, IN

The Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing and managing cost‑related data to support accurate financial reporting and strategic decision‑making. This role focuses on cost control, inventory analysis, and profitability insights, while partnering with operations and leadership to improve efficiency and pricing strategies.

• Analyze warranty costs to identify trends, variances and cost‑saving opportunities.
• Produce machine project cost reports to identify variances and provide feedback on budgeting and operational processes.
• Enter, compare, and analyze labor hours to provide utilization and efficiency data by project and department.
• Calculate department burden rates.
• Analyze freight and duty costs.
• Monitor and analyze inventory movement, including tracking variances, usage patterns, and reconciliation.
• Maintain and enhance profit center and cost accounting reports, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Perform data collection and market analysis to support leadership with insights for pricing decisions.
• Perform settlement runs and related processes.
• Maintain and update machine inventory data, ensuring accuracy in systems and reports.
• Maintain and update sales data including product line reporting and other reports as needed.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (operations, supply chain, finance) to improve cost tracking and reporting processes.
• Produce internal compliance audit lists and reports.
• Assist with developing and producing KPI reports.
• Assist with preparing budgets and forecasts.
• Assist with the annual external financial audit.

Bachelor’s degree

7‑10 years

• Bachelor’s Degree (B.S./B.A.) in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field; and 5+ years related experience and/or training in cost accounting or manufacturing accounting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Data analytics and business intelligence experience.
• Experience with SAP.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
• Computer software skills:
  Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel (intermediate), Microsoft Access, PowerPoint, and Adobe.
• Adaptability to shifting priorities and demand and accuracy in detail.
• Understanding of accounting principles and practices and report writing.
