Overview
Metro Plastics Technologies is an industry leader in custom plastic injection molding. With over 50 years in business, Metro Plastics has extensive plastic production capabilities, engineering expertise, and a dedicated on-site tool room and metrology lab supporting operations in a newly built state-of-the-art facility in Noblesville, IN.
PurposeThis role will provide mechanical support to produce plastic parts of a high standard of quality. Responsibilities include the proper setup and removal of molds from injection molding presses, which involves cleaning and inspecting mold components before changing them out.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Organizes work for smooth operations of set-up and removal of molds from injection molding machines.
- Installing molds in presses and making all required connections, adjustments, and settings in accordance with established documentation.
- Set up and use of all secondary equipment, such as sonic welders, conveyor belts, thermolators, drill presses, gate cutters and various other tools and equipment.
- Perform preliminary troubleshooting of processes as directed by shift supervisor or mold technician.
- Analyzes mechanical and operational problems, plans for, and takes corrective action.
- Maintains a thorough understanding of all equipment.
- Advise of need for repairs to tooling and equipment.
- Maintain mold storage areas and mold identification.
- Safely operate overhead cranes and report any maintenance or safety issues to proper personnel.
- Performs operations in a safe manner to guard against accidents.
- Perform Lock out / tag out procedures.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
- H.S. Diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational school certification or degree in related field a plus
- Experience using a variety of hand tools such as: torque wrench, ratchet, level
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities with strong time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-starter and able to effectively work without close supervision.
- Flexibility and ability to handle and manage change effectively and efficiently
- Work is performed in a manufacturing environment
- Employee will stand or walk most of their work hours
- Employee will routinely use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
