Position Summary

General Dentists provide comprehensive dental care to patients of all ages, ensuring high quality treatment and promoting oral health within the community. This role supports Mariposa Community Health Centers mission by delivering compassionate, patient-centered care and collaborating with the dental team to improve access to preventive and restorative services.

Essential Functions
  • 1. Provide Comprehensive Dental Care

    Diagnose and treat dental conditions, including preventive, restorative, and emergency care, for patients of all ages. Ensure treatment plans align with evidence-based practices and patient needs while maintaining high standards of quality and safety in accordance with the American Dental Association (ADA) and other standard-setting agencies.

  • 2. Perform Clinical Procedures

    Conduct examinations, administer anesthesia, and perform procedures such as fillings, crowns, extractions, periodontal therapy, etc. Utilize appropriate infection control protocols and maintain accurate documentation of all treatments.

  • 3. Educate Patients on Oral Health

    Offer guidance on preventive care, nutrition, and hygiene practices to improve long-term oral health outcomes. Communicate treatment options clearly and compassionately to ensure patient understanding and informed decision-making.

  • 4. Collaborate with Dental Team

    Work closely with dental assistants, hygienists, and administrative staff to ensure efficient clinic operations and exceptional patient experiences. Participate in case discussions and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

  • 5. Maintain Compliance and Professional Standards

    Adhere to all regulatory requirements, including OSHA, HIPAA, and state dental board standards. Stay current with continuing education and best practices to uphold professional licensure and competency.

  • 6. Support Community Health Initiatives

    Engage in outreach programs and community education efforts to promote oral health awareness. Represent Mariposa Community Health Center positively in all interactions with patients and the public.

  • 7. Other Duties as Assigned

    Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support the dental department and organizational goals.

  • Supervision Exercised

    No direct supervision. Assist in the training of dental assistants.

    • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
    • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
    • Ability to operate standard office equipment (e.g., keyboard, mouse, telephone)
    • Must possess adequate vision and hearing to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and in writing
    Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
    • Strong clinical skills in general dentistry
    • Excellent communication and patient education abilities
    • Computer proficiency for electronic health records
    • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
