Position: Dental Assistant I
Position Summary
The Dental Assistant I supports the delivery of high-quality dental care by assisting hygienists and dentists during procedures, preparing treatment rooms, and ensuring patient comfort. This role contributes to Mariposa’s mission of connecting with compassion and empowering wellness by fostering a caring environment, promoting oral health education, and ensuring efficient clinical operations.
Essential Functions
Assist dental providers – primarily dental hygienists and dentists: hand instruments, manage suction, prepare materials for treatments, and capture and process dental radiographs only if properly trained and certified.Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments according to infection control protocols: keep all treatment areas clean, organized, and properly equipped before each patient visit, sterilize instruments, and maintain strict adherence to OSHA and CDC standards.Provide patients with pre- and post-operative instructions and oral health education: explain preventive care techniques and post-procedure instructions in a clear and compassionate manner.Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations: document treatment details, radiographs, and patient interactions in the electronic health record system with precision and confidentiality.Monitor inventory and assist with ordering dental supplies: track supply levels, communicate needs, verify expiration dates, maintain organized storage, and support cost-efficient operations.Support front office staff with scheduling and patient flow as needed: coordinate appointments, manage patient flow, confirm schedules, escort patients, and assist with check-in/out processes.Other duties as assigned: perform additional tasks to support the dental department and overall clinic operations as required.Cultural Beliefs
