Primary Function

Under the direction of the principal, the teacher supports the Diocese of Tucson in evangelizing, catechizing, and educating youth in a Catholic school environment, serving as a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching both academically and behaviorally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of this Ministerial Position
  • Recognize and support the Catholic Mission of the school by speaking, acting, and instructing consistently with Church teachings.
  • Live Gospel values by actively participating in faith community and modeling Jesus’ teachings.
  • Help build the school’s faith community through participation in religious and service activities.
  • Lead and participate in daily classroom prayer.
  • Plan lessons to achieve academic goals and implement the Catholic religious curriculum.
  • Demonstrate teaching competence by possessing thorough knowledge of the curriculum and communicating effectively with students.
  • Provide evidence‑based instruction and intensive intervention at Tiers 2 and 3 within an MTSS framework.
  • Teach in an online environment when required, using tools such as Google Classroom.
  • Develop effective assessment methods that relate directly to curriculum objectives.
  • Maintain a consistent disciplinary approach that promotes self‑direction and positive self‑image.
  • Maintain a functional and pleasant learning environment.
  • Cooperate with school and diocesan administration, fostering positive relationships with students and parents; attend faculty training and meetings promptly.
  • Enforce school policies and regulations professionally.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information and uphold sound judgment in dress and behavior.
  • Abide by principal directives and perform additional duties as assigned.
Physical/Mental Requirements

The teacher must have coordination, manual dexterity, normal mental and visual capabilities, and the ability to lift as required in a normal office environment.

Required Activities

Walking, sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, talking, handling, hearing, carrying, and keyboarding.

Basic Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of the Catholic Church mission, practicing Roman Catholic in full communion.
  • Excellent written, oral, public speaking, and presentation skills.
  • Strong human relations and interpersonal skills; self‑starter, organized, team player.
  • Availability for evening and weekend work; reliable transportation.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with computer technology, including word processing and Excel; ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Flexibility to assess needs and adapt strategies appropriately.
  • Professional bearing, clean and neat appearance.
  • Completed criminal history and background check.
  • Valid and current Arizona DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Education and Experience
  • Completed bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Certified by the State of Arizona as a Teacher with renewal per state law.
  • Willingness to obtain and maintain Level I Diocesan Ministry Certification.
