Infection Control, Public Health Nurse
We are seeking licensed healthcare professionals to support immunization programs through direct vaccine administration and patient care. This role focuses on safe, compliant vaccine delivery within state and federal guidelines, including Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) and Vaccines for Children (VFC/VFA) program requirements.
This is a hands‑on clinical role with exposure to public health operations, preventative care, and population health initiatives.
Compensation: $25 – $40 per hour (based on license and experience)
Why This Role MattersThis position plays a critical role in delivering safe, effective immunizations and supporting community health initiatives. You will directly contribute to disease prevention and public health outcomes while gaining valuable experience in structured immunization programs.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct eligibility screening for every patient visit (VFC/VFA criteria)
- Ensure proper separation of public vs private vaccine stock
- Prepare and administer vaccines using proper clinical technique
- Select correct dosage, route (IM/SC), and site based on patient profile
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions post‑administration
- Provide Vaccine Information Statements (VIS) or EUA Fact Sheets
- Address patient questions regarding vaccines and side effects
- Maintain cold chain compliance through temperature log verification
- Prepare vaccines immediately prior to administration to ensure potency
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting into state immunization systems (ASIIS)
- Active, unrestricted license:
Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Paramedic - Completion of required immunization training
- ADHS AIPO training (annual requirement)
- CDC “You Call the Shots” – Full series completion required
- Valid Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card (Arizona DPS)
- Current BLS/CPR (ACLS preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to clinical protocols
- Clinical or community‑based vaccination settings
- Structured workflows with clear compliance protocols
