Position Summary

Faculty members are responsible for the delivery of quality education services. This entails engaging students, fostering learning, role‑modeling professionalism, and ultimately producing competently trained students prepared for professional careers. The Sterile Processing Technician Instructor will provide up‑to‑date and fully prepared instruction to Sterile Processing Technician students in an energetic and motivating instructional manner along with engaging in activities in student retention and managing classroom/lab activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare course plans and materials
  • Deliver course lectures
    Facilitate student engagement
    Work one‑on‑one with students
    Assess students and provide developmental feedback
  • Deliver courses – lecture/facilitate labs onsite or online
  • Grade projects and exams; maintain grade book; submit final grades
  • Enforce HCI policies (attendance, dress code, etc.)
  • Monitor progress and attendance: direct and assess student progress in achieving theoretical (cognitive) and performance (psychomotor and affective) requirements of the program; follow up as needed
  • Take and report daily attendance; enforce tardy and absence policies; report issues to the Program Director
  • Advise students: answer questions, provide one‑on‑one assistance/tutoring, identify at‑risk students promptly, implement success action plans, provide weekly assessments and feedback
  • Maintain grade books and adhere to departmental grading policies
  • Monitor equipment and supply needs; maintain classroom; seek approved substitute when absent
  • Participate in orientation, graduation ceremonies, staff and faculty meetings, committees, and knowledge sharing forums (full‑time faculty required, part‑time requested)
  • Use relevant software (Course Key, Campus Nexus, Moodle) correctly
  • Maintain licensures, certifications and required personnel file paperwork
  • Maintain at least eight (8) Continuing Education Units (CEU) annually via professional development and in‑services
  • Encourage course evaluation submission; use feedback to improve delivery
  • Ensure regular and reliable attendance
  • Comply with all governmental regulations and accreditation standards
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Workload Expectations
  • Workload depends on faculty classification
  • Start and end on time for assigned courses and labs
  • Obtain prior approval from the Program Director for overtime
  • Be able to teach face‑to‑face or online in didactic/classroom instruction or lab/simulation/active‑learning experiences
  • Full‑time faculty are required to attend meetings, participate in accreditation, serve on committees, and other duties as assigned
Requirements

Skills and Qualifications
  • Knowledgeable in the course content
  • Effective in directing and evaluating student learning and lab performance
  • Prepared in educational theory and techniques
  • Computer literacy – functional knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.)
  • Willingness to follow high ethical standards
Education/Experience
  • Associate’s degree with a major in any health‑sciences area from an accredited institution (Preferred)
  • Minimum of four (4) years of related practical work experience in the subject area(s) taught (per ACCSC) (Required)
  • Current and active certification in Sterile Processing (CRCST) (Preferred)
Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

Physical Demands

Professional office setting: communication with coworkers, presenting to students (remote and in‑person), demonstrating procedures and techniques, traveling to classes. Prolonged sitting at a desk and computer work. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Working Environment
