Our ANSEP Acceleration Academy is a dual enrollment program that supports 9th‑12th grade students who are working to earn college credits before they graduate from high school. This position is based at our newly launched Nome campus.
Position SummaryAs a Program Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting ANSEP’s mission by directly assisting students and contributing to the smooth operation of program activities. This temporary position is ideal for an individual who excels in a structured setting, enjoys direct student interaction, and is committed to promoting a safe and effective learning atmosphere.
ResponsibilitiesDirect student supervision, academic support, logistical coordination, and ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment. The role involves managing day‑to‑day logistics such as tracking student attendance and preparing activity supplies, maintaining professional boundaries and clear communication with students, providing flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and supervising statewide events from the UAA dorms when required, and driving a 15‑passenger van to transport students safely while enforcing safety guidelines on the road.
Qualifications- Some college coursework in a STEM or education field and one to two years of progressively responsible experience with school‑aged children, or an equivalent combination of training and experience (teaching certification preferred).
- Current CPR with AED/First Aid certification preferred.
- Must be 21 years or older, hold a valid AK driver’s license with a minimum of three years of driving record, and be able to drive an ANSEP vehicle.
- Must be able to lift or move 25 to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Experience working with rural and/or Indigenous Alaska populations preferred.

University of Alaska campus in Nome. Job type:
Temporary full‑time, 9‑month, hourly staff. New hires placed on the UA Temporary Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 77, with a 34 % geo‑differential based on education and experience. The position is a pooled role; applications are reviewed as needed. The schedule will begin mid‑July 2026 to support site setup, then transition to the standard academic calendar (August through May 2027). The role includes scheduled, unpaid time off during standard school holidays and term breaks.
