The Position
We are currently seeking qualified candidates for multiple Court Case Manager 2 positions. These roles will support the judicial system while working in a fast‑paced, professional environment. Depending on assignment, the individuals will perform both In‑Court Clerk and Criminal Clerk capacities.
In‑Court Clerk
:
You will be responsible for preparing the courtroom for hearings, receiving and marking exhibits, maintaining witness lists, calendaring hearings, and preparing and distributing court paperwork. During proceedings, you will take detailed log notes and ensure a clear and accurate audio recording of the hearing is produced.
Criminal Clerk
:
You will handle a wide range of legal documents such as complaints, citations, indictments, petitions to revoke probation, dismissals, and motions. You will review documents for proper form, calendar cases based on party requests, and prepare and distribute official court orders. Your attention to detail will help keep the legal process running smoothly and in compliance with all procedural requirements.
Employees transferring from another State of Alaska agency or applicants with prior legal work experience or education in the legal field may receive consideration for advance step placement.
The Work HoursFull‑time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for these positions are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one‑hour lunch break.
The Work EnvironmentThe Nome Trial Court is located on 5th Avenue and provides easy access to stores or a walk on your lunch break. When fully staffed, the clerk’s office includes four full‑time staff and one part‑time Court Case Manager 2 under the supervision of the Clerk of Court. As a Court Case Manager 2, you will become a part of the Nome Trial Court helping to fulfill the mission of the Alaska Court System.

- Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of advanced clerical work experience equivalent to a Court Case Manager 1 with the Alaska Court System or an equivalent position with another employer.
- Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND completion of a two‑year paralegal curriculum from an accredited institution.
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college.
