ResponsibilitiesSummary:
This position maintains continuous state of alertness and awareness to control and secure the facility and residents, operating within legal constraints and contract agency stipulations.
- Ensures that the equipment necessary for each watch is operational, prepares shift documentation including shift reports, work orders, security reports, and logs incidents per facility standards and contracting agency requirements.
- Receives necessary information from previous shift personnel regarding events, including resident medical and disciplinary issues, new arrivals, and special instructions; relieves the watch and informs required personnel.
- Conducts radio checks and facility counts at prescribed times, maintaining accurate logbooks.
- Patrols the building to observe and listen to residents and groups, monitoring the state of the building and ensuring security measures are in place.
- Maintains the building picture board with accurate resident pictures and bed slots.
- Organizes and supervises resident work details to maintain facility cleanliness and meet agency requirements.
- Performs scheduled and random tests (urinalysis, pat downs, breath tests) to maintain control and security.
- Documents disciplinary actions per procedure and logs accordingly.
- Conducts scheduled and impromptu cleanliness checks of the facility and residents’ personal belongings.
- Welcomes visitors, verifies identity, and maintains professionalism.
- Communicates with residents and staff to foster self‑esteem and positive relations.
- Participates in staff meetings, sharing observations and recommendations to resolve problems.
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information on a “need to know” basis.
- Complies with company policies, the Employee Handbook, Statement of Work, and Facility Policies.
- Adheres to attendance policies and works any required shifts or overtime to ensure coverage and safety.
- Complies with safety rules, taking corrective action when necessary.
- Communicates effectively with all staff levels to promote teamwork.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of general work experience; experience in a related field is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain orderly workflow.
- Ability to express thoughts clearly in written and verbal communication with correct grammar.
- Demonstrated flexibility to perform a wide range of duties.
- Effective interaction skills and capability to learn supervisory techniques.
- Ability to maintain positive relations with staff and residents.
- Motivating attitude and enthusiasm for work ethic.
- Computer proficiency with typical facility software.
