Location: North Slope, Alaska (Rotational)
Employer: Surepoint Group
Schedule: 2×2 or 3×3 rotation (flexible based on project needs)
Clearances: North Slope training & COPA onboarding preferred (we can arrange)
Position Overview
Surepoint Group is seeking an experienced QA/QC Electrical & Instrumentation Specialist to support construction and commissioning activities on Conoco Phillips Alaska (CPA) projects. The successful candidate will ensure all installations meet Conoco engineering specifications
, NEC 2023
, NFPA
, ISA
, and Surepoint quality standards, while maintaining world‑class documentation, inspection, and turnover deliverables.
This role directly supports instrumentation, tubing, electrical installation, cable work, MCC/VFD systems, loop checks, heat trace, and full QA/QC turnover package creation
.
Key Responsibilities
QA/QC Execution
- Perform inspections and quality checks on E&I installations including cable tray, conduit, terminations, instrumentation, tubing, heat trace, grounding, MCC, VFDs, and JB installations.
- Conduct electrical tests (megger, continuity, torque logs) in compliance with NEC 2023 and CPA standards.
- Execute instrument testing including calibration, point‑to‑point loop checks, and functional verification.
- Verify instrument tubing installation (316SS), Swagelok fittings, bending, routing, and leak testing.
- area classifications (NEC 500/505 and Conoco standards).
- Ensure all work aligns with CPA Engineering & Construction Specifications.
- Maintain strict control of red‑lines and drawings following Conoco document standards.
- Prepare and organize turnover packages for AIV/Mechanical Completion.
- Support Conoco permit requirements (LOTO, Cold Work, Hot Work, Ground Disturbance). in client walkdowns and close‑out inspections.
Documentation & Reporting
- Complete ITPs, NCRs, checklists, inspection reports, and QA/QC logs.
- Maintain material receiving verification, calibration certificates, and loop documentation.
- Ensure proper traceability of all QA/QC documentation.
- Produce professional, audit‑ready turnover binders.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of QA/QC experience in Electrical & Instrumentation construction or commissioning.
- Strong understanding of NEC 2023
, NFPA 70E, ISA standards, and industrial QA/QC processes. - Experience working on Conoco Phillips Alaska or other major oil & gas owner‑operator projects.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, loop sheets, and construction packages.
- Proficiency with megger testing, torque verification, and loop testing.
- Skilled in instrumentation calibration and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of hazardous area classifications (Class/Div or Zone).
- High attention to detail and strong documentation discipline (critical for Conoco turnover).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous work on COPA facilities (Kuparuk, Alpine, GMT, CD locations, CPF, K‑Pad, etc.)
- Experience preparing turnover packages (AIV/MC) for an owner‑client.
- Experience with tubing installation and integrity testing.
- Ability to support commissioning/startup (bonus skillset).
Soft Skills
- Strong communicator with the ability to interface with Conoco QA/QC, CMT, engineering, and operations.
- Highly organized; able to manage multiple simultaneous inspections.
- Strong problem‑solving ability and root‑cause mindset.
- Able to lead quality discussions with field crews, supervisors, and client representatives.
