JOB SUMMARY

The Seasonal Heavy-Duty Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a wide range of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, both in a shop environment and out in the field at active project sites. This role supports equipment readiness and operational reliability by performing scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and completing repairs safely and efficiently.

Working both independently and as part of a team, the mechanic may operate from a fully equipped shop or a dedicated service truck in the field, collaborating closely with supervisors and project personnel to ensure equipment remains safe, compliant, and project ready. This position requires adaptability to varying work environments, schedules, and conditions.

This is a SEASONAL, BENEFITS ELGIBLE position expected to begin in February 2026 and be completed around May 2026.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Inspect heavy-duty vehicles and equipment to diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and emissions-related issues.

Perform repairs and maintenance on heavy construction vehicles and equipment, including but not limited to:

Rough-terrain cranes, front-end loaders, excavators, dozers, motor graders, forklifts, skid steers, telehandlers, scissor lifts, telescopic boom lifts, vac trucks, vac trailers, fuel trucks, super-suckers, winch tractors, tractor-trailers, lowboy trailers, Ford pickup trucks, and other heavy-duty oilfield equipment.

Repair, adjust, and replace engines, transmissions, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, centrifugal pumps, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, and steering components.

Diagnose and repair DEF and Tier 4 after-treatment (emissions) systems.

Disassemble and reassemble vehicle and equipment components using hoists, hand tools, pneumatic tools, and electric tools.

Perform routine preventative maintenance, including lube, oil, and filter changes, in accordance with established maintenance schedules.

Operate vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes and conduct post-repair testing to ensure issues are resolved.

Perform field-based repairs from a service truck, adapting to varying site conditions and working environments.

Clean and maintain tools, equipment, service vehicles, and work areas to ensure safety and efficiency.

Prepare, monitor, and maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies.

Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.

Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.

Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

A valid (U.S issued) Driver’s License is required.

A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required.

The ability to work 84 hours a week on a 3x3 rotation is required.

Three (3) or more years of experience repairing, diagnosing, and performing preventative maintenance on heavy-duty vehicles and equipment is required.
