Maintenance Technician
Provide skilled maintenance and complex repair work on the physical plant, hospital, campus grounds, and limited medical and non-medical equipment. Uphold the organization's vision, mission, and corporate values. Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with organization's policies, procedures, code of conduct and work rules.
Essential Functions:
- Perform high level preventive and corrective maintenance on physical plant equipment such as HVAC systems, electrical and plumbing systems, high- and low-pressure oil-fired water and steam boilers, and water heating systems
- Test equipment using safety analyzer, volt meters, ohm meters, amp meters and special hand tools
- Inspect, calibrate, adjust, clean, and lubricate mechanical and electrical controls, valves, gauges, timing devices and meters. Report equipment and structural problems beyond own skill level, needed equipment or supplies to immediate supervisor
- Provide installation and repair services on complex, major systems throughout the facility as indicated by appropriate logs and work orders
- Train and mentor junior-level engineers and technicians on complex preventive maintenance and repair work
- Lead must perform critical infrastructure tasks and fill in leadership functions when the Manager of Facilities is unavailable, and conduct training on semi and annual preventative maintenance for penthouse equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Knowledge of NFPA, plumbing, electrical, OSHA, etc. codes
- Familiarity with plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.

Minimum Requirements:
Maintenance Technician I (Grade
7)
- 1 year working in maintenance
- High School Diploma
- Valid AK Driver's License
- One year Vocational/ Technical College preferred
Maintenance Technician II (Grade
8)
- All requirements of Maintenance Technician I
- 3 years experience
- Boiler Operator Certification or relevant training program
- Medgas 6005 Certification
- Backflow Certification
- HAZWOPER Certification
Maintenance Technician III (Grade
9)
- All requirements of Maintenance Technician II
- 5 years experience
- EPA 608 Certification
- Medgas 6040 Certification
Maintenance Technician Lead (Grade 10)
- All requirements of Maintenance Technician III
- 10 years experience
- 2 of these years experience with hospital-specific systems
Physical Requirements:
- Use hands and arms to operate office or clinical equipment
- Sit less than half the workday
- Stand and/or walk more than half the workday
- Bend, stretch, twist, crouch and/or reach
- View electronic monitors for prolonged periods of time
- Use hands and arms for repetitive motion tasks consistently…
