Protective Service Specialist (PSS) – Full Time
Location:
Nome, Alaska.
As a Protective Service Specialist (PSS), you will be responsible for all aspects of Child Protection Services in the Family Services Unit, the Investigations & Assessment Unit, or as a Generalist covering both. This position includes investigating reports of abuse and/or neglect, preparing intervention plans, gathering information about family dynamics, developing plans to ensure child safety while assisting parents, placing children in foster homes when necessary, providing ongoing services, coordinating referrals, writing reports to court, working closely with tribal partners, and frequent face‑to‑face and telephonic contact with parents and caregivers, among other duties.

The position is based out of the Nome office and requires travel to remote villages and communities by small aircraft, all‑terrain vehicles, or small boats. Travel frequency is expected to be four or more times a month, with occasional overnight stays in rustic conditions. The role may involve work during evenings, weekends, and on‑call rotations.
