Position TitleHeavy Duty Mechanic, Automotive, Advanced Journey/Lead – Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT & PF)
What You Will Be Doing- Professionally maintain all heavy‑duty and light‑duty equipment and vehicles associated with the construction and maintenance of secondary roads, rural airports, and other user‑agency vehicles operated in the area.
- Resolve unusual or complex equipment problems through a variety of techniques and methods, performing routine and specialized repair and maintenance on a variety of heavy equipment.
- Diagnose, maintain, repair and modify systems including transmissions, drive trains, suspension, engine and emission, fuel injection, hydraulic systems, and air and electrical braking systems for light and heavy‑duty equipment.

Working EnvironmentThis position is located at MP 3.5 Nome‑Teller Road, Nome, AK. Traveling in small airplanes to maintain equipment in remote locations may be required; travel includes day and overnight trips.

Knowledge of motor vehicle engines, parts, and systems, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance. - Self‑Management:
Sets well‑defined, realistic personal goals; demonstrates initiative, effort, and commitment to complete assignments on time; works with minimal supervision; responsible behavior.
This position requires a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and compliance with DOT & PF drug and alcohol policy. A Class A CDL must be obtained within 120 days of hire.
Tool AllowanceEmployees provide their own hand tools and receive a bi‑weekly tool allowance as determined by LTC contract.
