Para educator Position in Special Education Department
Paraeducators assigned to the Special Education Department will assist in providing Intensive Individual Service. Special Education will assign a location based on student need. If there is a student in a classroom that requires these services the Special Education Department will send a Para educator as extra support to the classroom aide rotation. Due to the location of the position being driven by student need, the Special Education Department can reassign members to a different work location (school site) no more than three (3) times in any one school year.
Scheduled shift hours of assignment will vary based on the assigned school site and can change with each reassignment during the year. Under the direction of an administrator, assist a certificated teacher to provide academic support and assist individual or small groups of multi-severely disabled, medically fragile, and behaviorally challenged students in a classroom or community based learning environment; reinforce instruction and learning experiences;
monitor and oversees student drills, homework, practices and assignments in various subjects; prepare instructional materials and implement lesson plans; perform routine clerical and supportive tasks for instructional personnel.
High School Diploma or equivalent and sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed and one (1) year of related experience. Effective 10/1/24:

Para educator Exam:
Applicants will be notified via email of testing date, time and location. No test will be required if a person has 48 semester units, or has an AA Degree or higher. If you posses either of these requirements, you must attach official copies of your transcript to your applications. If you are attaching an AA, Bachelors, or Masters Degree you must also attach your High School Diploma.
