Assistant Professor, Computer Science/Computer Information Systems

Norco, California – Full‑time, tenure‑track, 10‑month position (Salary range $86,023 – $132,539, graded from Column C Step 1 to Column H Step 6).

Assistant Professor in the Computer Science/Computer Information Systems Department at Norco College supports a diverse student body – 58 % Latinx, 7 % Asian American, 6 % African American, 22 % White – and serves as part of the School of Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems and Game Development. The role involves teaching, curriculum development, student support, assessment, and service to the department and campus.

• Maintain currency in the field of computer science and information systems.
• Maintain and report accurate scholastic records, including attendance.
• Assist in the growth of a diverse student population through effective teaching and feedback.
• Develop and file appropriate syllabi for each course.
• Teach lecture and laboratory classes in the discipline.
• Participate in outcomes assessment and use results to improve teaching.
• Allocate a workload of forty hours weekly, including instruction, preparation, evaluation, office hours, committee work, curriculum development, and student activities.
• Complete annual "flex credit" and participate in institutional service activities.
• Participate in department decision‑making on curriculum and program development.
• Maintain professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the position.
• Teach online or off‑campus evening and weekend classes as needed.

• Master's in computer science or computer engineering; or Bachelor’s plus Master’s in mathematics, cybernetics, business administration, accounting, or engineering.
• Or Bachelor’s degree plus Master’s in information science, computer information systems, or information systems.
• All degrees must be from accredited institutions.

• Minimum two years of teaching at a community college or baccalaureate level.
• Minimum four years of industry experience as a software engineer or related position.
• Knowledge of modern software design, construction, production, deployment, and documentation.
• A terminal degree in computer science or a related field is preferred.

The successful candidate will demonstrate responsiveness to the racial, socioeconomic, academic, and cultural diversity of the community college student population and possess knowledge of equitable instructional practices. Experience working with historically underserved students and an understanding of equity issues in the classroom are preferred.
