NOVA Engineering & Environmental is seeking an experienced Special Inspector to join our Norcross, GA team. This is a field-focused role responsible for performing code-required inspections on commercial, municipal, and infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable building codes.
This opportunity is ideal for a highly certified inspector with multiple ICC credentials who is looking to play a key role on complex projects, work independently in the field, and serve as a trusted technical resource for clients and project teams.
Key Responsibilities- Perform special inspections in accordance with applicable building codes and project requirements, including structural steel, bolting, welding; reinforced concrete; soils and foundations; structural masonry
- Verify construction complies with approved plans, specifications, and code requirements
- Interpret building codes, construction documents, and engineering details
- Prepare detailed, accurate, and timely inspection reports
- Communicate inspection findings and coordinate with contractors, engineers, and clients
- Serve as a technical resource on job sites, helping resolve inspection and compliance issues
- Maintain proper documentation to support code compliance and project closeout
- Adhere to all company and project safety standards
- High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate or technical degree preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in special inspections and/or construction inspections
- Strong knowledge of building codes, inspection procedures, and construction practices
- Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in the field
- Ability to work outdoors on active construction sites in varying conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Multiple active ICC certifications required, such as:
Soil, Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry, Structural Steel & Bolting, Welding
- Master of Special Inspections (MSI) (highly preferred)
- Additional ICC certifications beyond core disciplines
- Use of take-home Company Vehicle with fuel card for daily travel to work sites
