Key Responsibilities- Plans, directs, and coordinates forensic and consulting projects involving construction cost estimation, damages quantification, and construction defect analysis.
- Prepares and reviews detailed construction cost estimates and loss-of-use calculations for litigation and insurance clients.
- Evaluates contractor bids, change orders, and construction budgets; identifies overcharges, errors, and discrepancies.
- Reviews construction documents, contracts, specifications, and schedules to evaluate compliance with standards and scope.
- Authors high-quality technical reports and expert opinions on construction cost and damages matters.
- Provides expert testimony at deposition and trial.
- Conducts well-developed and well-prepared client presentations.
- Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for assignment of project personnel.
- Directs and coordinates projects within prescribed schedule and budget scopes.
- Works with Business Development to identify potential clients and strategies to build client base.
- Actively participates in Business Development activities, including client meetings, presentations, and appropriate conferences.
- Mentors earlier-career employees in growth and development.
Education / Certifications / Licenses Required
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required
- Master's degree preferred.
- Certified Professional Estimator (CPE), Certified Cost Professional (CCP), or similar credential preferred; P.E. license a plus.
Experience Required
- 10–15 years of experience in construction cost estimating, construction management, or forensic consulting.
- Broad experience preparing detailed cost estimates across commercial, residential, and industrial construction sectors.
- Track record authoring high-quality technical reports and/or expert reports; experience providing expert testimony highly desirable.
- Experience in the consulting industry preferred; established client relationships highly preferred.
Other Technical & Non-Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and cost estimating software (e.g., RSMeans, Xactimate, or equivalent).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact with clients professionally and develop business internally and externally.
- Ability to communicate complex construction cost concepts clearly to legal and non-technical audiences.
- Must be available to travel occasionally as part of the national practice.

The pay range listed reflects a good-faith estimate of the compensation we expect to offer most candidates for this role. Total compensation includes a competitive base salary and bonus opportunity, with final pay determined by job-related factors such as experience, qualifications, individual performance, and overall company performance.
After internal discussions and market research, the current pay band for this opportunity is $130,000 to $180,000.
Physical DemandsThis role requires frequently sitting or standing for extended periods of time and occasionally lifting and/or moving items weighing up to 50 pounds, with infrequent lifting up to 75 pounds. The work regularly requires bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, and maintaining balance. This position frequently requires handling and operating specialized tools and equipment and working in a variety of physical positions, including occasionally accessing tight or confined spaces.
