- Teaching and leading a broad scope of age groups in ballet and contemporary (ranging from Early Childhood instruction to pre‑Professional level classes)
- Creating, developing, and teaching choreography
- Representing the School in a professional manner both inside and outside the classroom
- Selecting music for recitals and concerts
- Participating in all technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, recitals, and performances
- Being present in the theater to assist with the production of all recitals and performances – before, during, and after the performance
- Keeping up‑to‑date in your discipline
- Implementing any changes to the dance routines and curriculum as needed
- Evaluating student performance and making recommendations for improvement
- Communicating with a diverse group of teachers, students, and parents
- Keeping the studio clean and presentable
- Attending staff meetings
- Performing other duties as needed
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Dance education (such as a Dance major) or relevant dance teaching experience is required; a Master’s Degree is a plus.
ExperienceA minimum of one year of relevant dance teaching experience, including teaching students with a broad range of abilities and backgrounds in a private setting.
Abilities- Proficient in teaching ballet, tap, and jazz; hip hop a plus
- Articulate instructions in an effective manner
- Strong interpersonal skills and in‑classroom leadership qualities
- Upbeat, caring, positive attitude with good communication, and strong observational skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to keep students on task in a class
- Maintain confidentiality
- Sound decision‑making skills
- Successful background check, reference checking, and drug/alcohol screening clearance
- Acknowledgment and agreement of GAC’s Statement of Faith and Community Covenant
