Role DescriptionWe are seeking a motivated Technical Sales Engineer to support and grow our business. This role is ideal for a mechanically minded professional with contractor-side experience who understands how projects move from design to install—and who enjoys building long-term relationships across contractors, engineers, and manufacturer partners.
This position blends technical support, sales enablement, and relationship development within a fast-paced distribution environment.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a technical and applications resource for internal sales staff and external customers
- Support and grow relationships with mechanical contractors
, drawing on prior contractor-side experience - Work closely with manufacturer partners
, supporting product selection, training, and project execution - Assist sales teams with
: - Product selection and system solutions
- Technical submittals and documentation
- Value engineering and alternate solutions
- Develop and maintain relationships with consulting engineers and engineering firms to drive specification and product preference
- Actively call on engineers and contractors to support projects from design through installation
- Attend and participate in local engineering and industry organizations (ASHRAE, ASPE, etc.)
- Represent the distributor at industry events, customer meetings, jobsite visits, and networking functions
- Identify new opportunities within the territory and help drive revenue growth across product lines
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)
- Experience with a mechanical contractor as a Project Manager or Project Engineer
- Strong understanding of HVAC and mechanical systems, construction processes, and project workflows
- Demonstrated sales aptitude with the ability to influence decisions and build trust
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with sales teams, vendors, and customers
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable managing multiple projects
- Experience working with or for a mechanical distributor or manufacturer’s representative
- Familiarity with distribution-based sales channels and project pipelines
- Existing relationships within the local contractor or engineering community
Compensation Range: $90,000 - $120,000 per year
