CMT Engineering Technician

NOVA Engineering & Environmental is seeking a CMT Engineering Technician to join our Norcross, GA office. This is a primarily field-based role, responsible for performing on-site testing and inspection of construction materials to support a wide range of commercial, municipal, and infrastructure projects.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, being hands-on at active construction sites, and playing a critical role in ensuring quality and compliance throughout the construction process.

Key Responsibilities:

* Perform field testing and inspection of construction materials, including:
Soil compaction testing, Concrete sampling, testing, and placement inspections;
Asphalt density testing; and Reinforcing steel inspections

* Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards

* Communicate field observations and test results to project managers, contractors, and clients

* Prepare and submit clear, timely, and accurate field reports

* Assist with site safety efforts and adhere to all company and project safety requirements

* Maintain, transport, and operate field testing equipment

Qualifications:

* High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree in engineering technology or related field preferred)

* Experience in construction materials testing (CMT), inspections, or construction fieldwork preferred

* Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications

* Strong attention to detail and communication skills

* Comfortable working outdoors on active construction sites in varying weather conditions

* Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods

* Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Certifications:

* ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Level I (highly preferred)

* ICC Certifications (preferred but not required):
Soils, Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry

* Nuclear Density Gauge
