Support the CRC Catastrophe Modeling team by developing custom tools and applications to streamline internal catastrophe modeling processes, and produce, analyze and deliver catastrophe model results to brokers, underwriters and management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Evaluate existing manual processes and identify automation opportunities.
- Consult end-users and management to define business requirements and design & build new internal software tools to streamline identified processes, with the goal of quicker turn‑around times and error reduction.
- Analyze accounts and portfolios using Catastrophe Modeling software, validate results to ensure accuracy before delivering to underwriters and/or senior management.
- Assist with portfolio roll‑up and creation of corresponding exposure databases and reports.
- Collaborate on portfolio optimization and aggregate management strategies, ensuring CRC stays within allocated capacity limits.
- Interact with underwriters and provide insight into modeled results.
- Review new software tools from various vendors for applicability, suitability, and usability to integrate into Insurisk processes.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Required- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Information Systems or related quantitative field and/or equivalent education and related training.
- Extensive experience working with Excel, including external data connections and pivot tables.
- Experience using SQL, Python or equivalent coding language.
- Ability to work closely with analysts and bridge the gap between business problems and technical solutions.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using and integrating with Catastrophe Models (RMS, Verisk Touchstone, Oasis, etc.).
- Experience using and building reports in Power BI.
- Understanding of Property Insurance terms and practices.
- Experience with consuming third‑party APIs using XML, JSON and REST.
