Position: Billing Specialist Needed

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Billing Specialist to join our private homecare agency team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical billing, specifically with Medicaid and Veterans Affairs (VA) programs. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate claim submission, timely reimbursement, and compliance with all state and federal billing guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, review, and submit claims to Medicaid and the VA in a timely and accurate manner
  • Verify client eligibility, authorizations, and required documentation prior to billing
  • Monitor claim status, resolve denials, and follow up on unpaid claims
  • Post payments and reconcile accounts to ensure accurate financial records
  • Communicate with case managers, coordinators, and payors to resolve billing issues
  • Maintain compliance with Medicaid, VA, and agency regulations and documentation standards
  • Generate billing reports and assist with audits as needed
  • Stay current on billing requirements, fee schedules, and regulatory updates
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of billing experience in a homecare or healthcare setting
  • Demonstrated experience billing Medicaid and Veterans Affairs (VA) programs (required)
  • Strong knowledge of claim management, authorizations, and compliance requirements
  • Experience working with EVV systems and medical billing software preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in private duty or structured family caregiving billing
  • Familiarity with state‑specific Medicaid waiver programs
  • Certification in medical billing/coding (a plus but not required)
