Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Machine Operator
Growing metals manufacturer in Norcross seeking an experienced Tool & Die Maker for a direct-hire, long-term opportunity with room to grow!
Pay rate is $30-33/ hour, based on experience. This is a 1st shift opportunity.
Shift Schedule & Flexibility- Initial schedule: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- Must be flexible to stay over into 2nd shift and work occasional weekends as needed.
- As you gain experience in the role, the schedule will transition to approximately 9:00/10:00 a.m.
- 5:30/6:30 p.m. - Schedule requires ongoing flexibility to support both shifts and operational needs.
Join a quality-focused metals manufacturing operation where your machining and tooling skills will play an important role in supporting production. As a Tool & Die Maker, you will build, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain dies and tooling using manual machining equipment.
The company is looking for a Tool & Die professional who wants to build a long-term career with the operation. This role will have an important part in helping develop and grow the maintenance and tooling function at the location. The ideal candidate is committed to the role, eager to contribute and learn, and interested in taking on greater responsibility as the department continues to grow.
Roles & Responsibilities- Build new dies from print through completion.
- Reproduce broken details independently.
- Troubleshoot dies and tooling independently.
- Operate manual machining equipment independently.
- Maintain tools and equipment needed to perform the job.
- Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and in good working condition.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Successfully pass a skills-based assessment covering reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving.
- 3-5 years of tooling and machining experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and math skills.
- TS/ISO certification is a plus.
- Crane and forklift certification is a plus.
- Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of onboarding.
- Work with traditional, older-style machining equipment, including manual lathes and drill presses.
Comfortable working with this type of equipment and willing to learn the specific machinery and processes used in the shop. - Team-oriented environment that values collaboration, learning from experienced coworkers, and sharing knowledge.
