Vision To Learn is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization providing vision screenings, eye exams, and glasses to K–12 students in underserved communities across the U.S. at no cost to them or their families. PositionDescription
Vision To Learn is currently seeking a qualified candidate for a full-time Georgia Optician position. This is a field-based role supporting mobile vision clinics that serve students at schools, summer programs, and community-based sites throughout Georgia.
The Optician will primarily work during school-based hours, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays throughout the year based on program and event needs. While most clinic operations occur during the school day, this position may also require occasional work outside of school hours to complete documentation, patient records, inventory management, scheduling support, and other operational responsibilities.
This role follows the academic school calendar and includes peak operational periods during the school year and summer programming. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, mobile healthcare environment that requires flexibility, organization, professionalism, and strong customer service skills.
The ideal candidate is patient-focused, detail-oriented, comfortable working with children of all ages and abilities, and able to work independently while supporting a collaborative field team environment.
Key position responsibilities include
- Oversee assigned mobile eye clinic operations and support efficient patient flow throughout the day
- Conduct eye exam pre-tests while maintaining optimal professional and patient care standards
- Take measurements, fit, and adjust frames for patients according to written optical prescriptions
- Assist patients with frame selections to ensure proper fit, comfort, and patient satisfaction
- Complete and prepare daily reports and documentation in a timely manner while meeting required deadlines
- Make follow-up calls to patient caregivers for feedback and patient support as needed
- Conduct vision screenings using a Welch Allyn Spot Vision Screener
- Study, understand, and follow all Vision To Learn health and safety protocols
- Provide a positive, patient-centered experience for students, school staff, and families at all times
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively work with students of all ages, ranging from 4 to 18 years old
- Be comfortable and equipped to work with students with special needs and varying behavioral, developmental, and communication needs
