Job Description

We are looking for a Sales Trainee to join our Mayer team located in Norcross, GA!

Summary

The Sales Trainee is responsible for completing the orientation program that covers all aspects of business sales within a comprehensive and progressive timeframe. This includes learning the company products and services, gaining familiarity with branch operations, building high quality relationships with new and existing customers, and learning how to generate profitable sales. Trainees will gain practical hands‑on experience and learn the company's mission, vision, culture, and values.

Upon successful completion of all workplace assignments, the trainee will be able to apply for a sales role within the company.

Responsibilities
  • Complete the Sales Trainee orientation program with emphasis in product knowledge, warehouse operations, customer service, sales, and marketing support.
  • Gain knowledge of all aspects of the sales process including outside sales, inside sales, counter sales, project management, and more.
  • Become proficient in answering customer inquiries regarding product needs and processing orders.
  • Generate quotes and prices, give delivery specifications and payment terms, and offer substitute products where appropriate.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships, provide excellent customer service, respond to information requests, and prioritize processing transactions to support sales.
  • Complete operational documents and reports such as counter sales reports, shipping documents, tickets, price sheets, and catalogues.
  • Use the computer tools and systems used in day‑to‑day operations.
  • Work hands‑on in a rotation of various roles within a branch, warehouse, and project house to understand operations and logistics of the materials flow and sales.
  • May travel on sales calls to shadow.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications What You'll Need
  • 1+ years of customer service, sales, or related experience.
  • High School or GED - Required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Basic analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills with team, team leaders, and customers.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or questions from customers or members of the business community.
