Lead Installer Position

We are seeking to hire a fully competent Lead installer (Leadman) to join our Production Team. As a member of the Production Team, you will be responsible for leading small crews, coordinating daily tasks, and ensuring production targets are met while maintaining quality and safety.

Hourly Pay

Hourly Pay: $32.00 to $41.00 per hour

Travel Requirements

Note:
This positions requires up to 100% travel out of state. Travel schedule is a 28-30 day rotation with a 5 day break between each rotation.

Candidates who have little to no prior experience with Commercial Roofing Systems (Sheet Metal) are encouraged to apply for our Entry Level Commercial Roofing Position, or apply for the Roofer position if no prior experience leading crews.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Complete the initial safety and technical training onboarding.
  • Complete assigned sheet metal tasks at or above expected production rates.
  • Manage full jobsite operations to meet or exceed production schedules.
  • Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Review drawings and scope to plan project sequencing.
  • Conduct daily production planning meetings.
  • Track production rates and adjust workflow as needed.
  • Perform advanced layout for coping, gutters, edge metals, and custom details.
  • Ensure installations meet manufacturer, NRCA, and Ideal standards.
  • Conduct safety meetings and enforce compliance.
  • Communicate with project managers regarding progress and needs.
  • Complete daily reports, timekeeping, and documentation.
  • Mentor Lead Installers and identify advancement candidates.
  • Represent Ideal professionally with customers and general contractors.
  • Maintain consistent reliability and punctuality.
  • Set up safety perimeters, roof access points, and required safety stands.
Experience Requirements
  • 5+ Years of experience in Commercial Roofing (Sheet Metal Specifically).
  • Proficient in cutting, bending, forming, and installing sheet metal components.
  • Strong understanding of fastening patterns and attachment methods.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and roof plans.
  • Previous experience leading crews on large‑scale projects.
  • Be able to show Sheet Metal knowledge/skills during a practical assessment before hire.
Minimum Employment Requirements
  • Clear a National, State, and Local Background Check.
  • 3‑Year Motor Vehicle Record meeting standards to drive company vehicles. (If hired as a driver).
  • Candidates must pass a pre‑employment drug screen & complete Post Hire fit for duty screening.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 75 lbs.
  • Pass the 90‑day introductory period.
  • Willingness to learn from other technicians & direct supervisors.
  • BASIC COMPUTER LITERACY REQUIRED.
Qualifications
  • 40‑60 Hour Work Weeks.
  • Consistent & Reliable Timeliness & Attendance.
  • Rotating (1) weekend per month On‑Call Schedule.
  • Periodic, Regional, and overnight stays for job completion.
  • Ability to operate mobile technology systems & programs.
  • Expert‑level sheet metal installation and layout abilities.
  • Strong leadership and crew‑management skills.
  • Ability to plan and execute full project scopes efficiently.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to maintain production targets while upholding quality and safety.
  • Deep understanding of sequencing, logistics, and jobsite coordination.
  • Current OSHA 10 or OSHA 30, Fall Protection, Aerial Lift certification preferred.
