Role Description

The Pipe Shop Welder role is a full-time, on-site position based in Norcross, GA. This role involves fabricating and welding piping systems according to drawings, specifications, and welding procedures, using appropriate welding processes and tools. Day-to-day tasks include cutting, fitting, and assembling pipe, performing quality checks on welds, and working closely with supervisors and team members to meet production schedules and safety standards.

The Pipe Shop Welder will maintain equipment, follow all company and OSHA safety guidelines, and assist with material handling, layout, and occasional troubleshooting of fabrication issues.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated proficiency in pipe welding and fabrication, including experience with common welding processes (e.g., SMAW, GTAW, GMAW) and working from blueprints and isometric drawings.
  • Strong technical skills in measuring, cutting, and fitting pipe, with the ability to use welding and cutting equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Knowledge of welding codes and standards, basic metallurgy as it relates to welding, and quality assurance practices such as visual inspection of welds.
  • Commitment to safety, including adherence to OSHA regulations, use of PPE, and safe material handling and shop practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a shop environment, communicate clearly with supervisors and team members, and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a welding trade program, apprenticeship, or relevant certification (e.g., AWS) is highly beneficial.
  • Prior experience as a pipe welder or in mechanical contracting, especially in commercial or industrial projects, is preferred.
  • Physical ability to lift materials, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks that require manual dexterity and attention to detail.
