Cloud Engineer - Software, Software Architect, DevOps, Software Engineer
Trans Core (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a highly skilled and forward‑leaning Senior Software Architect to join the Smart Mobility Team in Atlanta, Georgia.
AboutThe Role
Passionate about the Smart Cities space? Interested in solving problems in how people move across urban ecosystems? This could be an ideal opportunity.
Trans Core is seeking a highly skilled and forward‑leaning Sr. Software Platform Architect who not only drives platform‑level architectural strategy but is also deeply hands‑on in building, coding, and validating complex systems
. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys shaping the architecture while actively developing AI/ML workflows, API frameworks, high‑throughput data ingestion pipelines, and real‑time transformation services.
You will play a critical role in defining, implementing and scaling the Smart Pass Mobility Platform—
contributing both at the whiteboard and in the codebase
—to help build a modern, cloud‑native foundation powering future mobility experiences across agencies, partners, and consumer‑facing applications.
- Technical Leadership & Collaboration (Hands‑on Focus):
Work side‑by‑side with Platform Engineers, Backend Developers, Dev Ops, and Product teams—not just advising from the sidelines but actively rolling up your sleeves to develop, review, debug, and validate architectural decisions. Provide deep architectural guidance, drive engineering excellence through hands‑on contributions, and influence technical roadmaps grounded in real implementation experience. While not a people manager, you operate as a senior mentor, modeling best practices and elevating the technical bar across teams. - Rapid Prototyping and Validation:
Lead the end‑to‑end development of lightweight proof‑of‑concepts and reference implementations—personally designing, coding, integrating, and performance‑testing prototypes to validate platform architecture decisions, integration strategies, throughput assumptions, and emerging use cases before committing to full‑scale implementation. - AI/ML Workflow Design & Integration:
Design, develop, and operationalize AI/ML‑driven workflows that enhance platform intelligence, automation, and real‑time decisioning. Work hands‑on to build feature pipelines, integrate models into microservices, and validate performance in production‑like environments to ensure reliability, scalability, and measurable impact on mobility use cases. - Architect the Platform (The “Core”):
Lead the design and evolution of a modular, microservices‑based backend. You will define architectural patterns that decouple the core transaction engine from consumer applications, ensuring the platform supports multi‑tenancy, partner integrations, and white‑label solutions. - Multi‑Cloud & Hybrid Strategy:
Design a cloud‑agnostic platform built for portability. Using Kubernetes, Golang, and containerization best practices, you will architect, and develop solutions that seamlessly deploy to align with multi‑cloud deployments strategy, or on‑premise agency infrastructure. - Bridge the Hardware/Cloud Gap:
Collaborate with the current engineering group to ensure real‑time roadside data—sensors, devices—flows reliably into the cloud platform with low latency and high accuracy. Define scalable ingestion and event‑processing patterns. - Drive API Strategy:
Shape API architecture, standards, and governance. Ensure APIs are intuitive, well‑documented, stable, and designed as platform products that empower internal and external developers without compromising core stability. - Operational Excellence:
Influence and support best practices around uptime, resilience, and security, including PCI‑DSS controls. Partner with Dev Ops to establish CI/CD, observability, and fail‑safe deployment patterns that enable continuous, reliable delivery.
- Modern Tech Stack Mastery:
Expertise in cloud‑native systems (Azure/AWS/GCP), microservices, event‑driven architecture (Kafka/Rabbit
MQ), containerization, .NET/Java frameworks and API standards (REST/Graph
QL). - Platform Architecture:
You have designed or been a key contributor to multi‑tenant platforms and understand…
