Extended School Year (ESY) Staff Posting – Summer 2026. Provide direct, special education instruction and related services to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individual Education Programs (IEPs) during the summer of 2026.
Program Dates:
July 06 – August 06, 2026. Days:
Scheduling ranges from four days a week (Monday through Thursday) to part-time roles specifically for Monday and Tuesday.
Hours:
Daily schedules vary by program, with shifts ranging from 3.5 to 5.5 hours per day depending on specific classroom needs.
Assist teachers in the special education Extended School Year (ESY) classroom with daily activities that support student learning, based on the student’s IEPs and the teachers’ directives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Assist the teacher in routine classroom operations.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the assigned students’ learning profiles.
- Demonstrate initiative and creativity with students and their program.
- Follow through with prescribed behavioral management programs.
- Maintain classroom environment to support student learning, as directed by the teacher.
- Correct students’ work; photocopy materials; keep logs and records as directed by the teacher; write lessons/notes on the board.
- Implement accommodations on IEP (e.g., taking student notes, reading to the student, administering tests orally, etc.).
- Be available and ready to assist the special education teachers as needed to support student learning.
Supervise students in the absence of the teacher for brief, discrete periods of time.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE- Minimum of an associate’s degree at an accredited college/university.
- Previous experience with special education students.
Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff, parents, students, and administrators.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to develop and interpret graphs, tables, and charts.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear; occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and bend at the neck more than the average person. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and peripheral vision. The employee needs to be able to tell where a sound is coming from and hear in a noisy environment.
Occasionally will assist in the physical management of students.

Job Requirements- At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- Associate degree preferred.
