.7 FTE VISUAL ART Teacher (Grade 3-6)
Responsibilities- Curriculum Development:
Contribute to developing and implementing the art curriculum, aligning with state and district guidelines. - Classroom Management:
Create a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages creativity and fosters a love of art. - Assessment:
Evaluate student progress and provide feedback to support their development as artists. - Collaboration:
Collaborate with other teachers and administrators to integrate art into other subject areas and support school-wide initiatives. - Supplies and Resources:
Manage art supplies, including purchasing, organizing, and maintaining them. - Professional Development:
Stay current on best practices in art education by participating in professional development activities. - Parent Communication:
Communicate with parents about student progress and art projects. - Special
Education:
Possess knowledge and sensitivity to effectively include students with special needs. - Safety:
Ensure a safe and organized art classroom environment.
- Art Education Expertise:
Thorough knowledge of art history, art techniques, and art education principles. - Teaching
Skills:
Excellent classroom management, communication, and instructional skills. - Curriculum Development:
Ability to develop and implement curriculum aligned with state and district standards. - Technology
Skills:
Proficiency in using technology to enhance instruction and student learning. - Collaboration:

Ability to manage art supplies, materials, and classroom resources. - Patience and Flexibility:
Ability to work with diverse learners and adapt instruction as needed. - Passion for Art: A genuine interest in and enthusiasm for art education.
- Massachusetts DESE state-approved educator license, specifically the Initial License for Visual Arts.
- Bachelor's degree in art education or a related field.
- Successful completion of a state-approved teacher preparation program.
- Passing the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) Visual Arts subject test.
- At least 2 years of solid teaching experience with the elementary population.
