Specialized Resource Teacher - Global Development/Autism (Prek‑2)

Job Summary

Provide direct implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with Global Developmental Delay or Autism Spectrum Disorder using applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles, discrete trial training (DTT), and data‑driven instruction. Collaborate with board‑certified behavior analysts, ABA technicians, related service providers, and general education staff to support academic, communication, and behavioral goals. Serve as a liaison between home and school, partnering with families to promote academic success and well‑being.

Job Functions
  • Provide direct specialized instruction per student IEPs and coordinate consultations with team members.
  • Reinforce learning, assess students, and determine functional levels.
  • Adapt and modify general education curricula for accessibility and progress.
  • Conduct learning assessments to identify disabilities, impacts, and progress.
  • Complete state‑mandated testing (MCAS or MCAS‑Alt) as required.
  • Develop comprehensive IEPs with measurable goals aligned to student data.
  • Serve as primary contact for students with developmental delays, autism, and related behavioral needs, ensuring services and compliance.
  • Act as liaison among parents, team members, and Director of Student Support Services.
  • Write detailed progress reports, maintain records, and collaborate with inclusion teachers on grading.
  • Design and implement individualized lesson plans focused on IEP objectives.
  • Attend team meetings to discuss academic needs, progress, and program development.
  • Provide guidance, PD, and strategies to ABA technicians and educators.
  • Assist staff in applying positive behavior reinforcement per the Norfolk Student Discipline Policy.
  • Maintain instructional environment conducive to learning for diverse students.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, including conferences and logs.
  • Offer strategies and training to parents for home support.
  • Participate in professional development to improve program quality.
  • Manage supply requisitions and uphold Norfolk School Committee policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Student Support Services.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field.
  • MA DESE teaching credential in Severe Disabilities, All Levels.
  • Experience applying ABA methodologies to build data‑driven interventions for students with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
  • Clear communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Teaching experience in preschool through grade 2 is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills for caseload management, documentation, and scheduling.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders and students with social or behavioral health needs.
Job Requirements
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience (preferred).
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
Work Environment

Must be able to move about and assist students with physical disabilities. Majority of workday indoors; also spend time outdoors for recess, fire drills, and special activities.

Salary & Compensation

Full‑time, FLSA exempt. Salary range:
Bachelors/Step 3 $ 63,378 – Doctorate/Step 15 $ 120,852 per year.

Authorizing Position

Reports to the Building Principal and Director of Student Support Services.

  • Copy of MTEL test scores or Praxis.
  • Certified transcripts.
  • Original signed recent letters of recommendation.
