Step 2: $21.41/hour (Associate’s Degree or Para Pro Certificate), $27.06/hour (Bachelor’s Degree +15 credits or higher) - Work Year: 10‑month school year (183 days)
The Instructional Assistant supports and assists in the delivery of the core curriculum and meets daily instructional needs of students under the direction of the classroom teacher.
Essential Job Functions- Academic Support:
- Assist students in accessing the general education curriculum.
- Prepare materials for lessons, classroom activities, and assessments.
- Work with individual students or small groups on prescribed educational programs.
- Create and maintain an instructional environment that is organized, predictable, and conducive to learning.
- Maintain clear, professional communication and collaboration with teachers and specialists.
- Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Health Support:
- Implement the building's behavioral philosophy and positive behavioral intervention frameworks.
- Support appropriate student behaviors through motivation and positive behavior management strategies.
- Help students develop self‑regulation, coping mechanisms, and social competencies.
- Adhere strictly to the Physical Restraint Policy and Crisis Intervention Policy.
- Instructional and Non‑Instructional Supervision:
- Support students across all school environments to ensure safety and inclusion.
- Attend specialist classes (Art, Music, PE, Media) as determined by the IEP Team.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized classroom areas.
- Student‑Specific Physical and Personal Care Guidelines:
- Preschool: respond to physical needs, positioning, lifting, and motor self‑help skills.
- Preschool: assist with personal care routines (toileting, hygiene, feeding).
- Kindergarten: supervise bathroom breaks, lunchtime, playground time.
- Professionalism and Responsibility:
- Demonstrate professionalism, positive role model, confidentiality, and collaborative spirit.
- Maintain punctual attendance and operational reliability.
- Complete required district training and participate in professional development.
- Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned by the Building Principal or Director of Student Support Services.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience (preferred).
- Associate degree (preferred).
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
