Role Description The Staff Accountant role is a full-time, on-site position based in Norfolk, NE. This role is responsible for performing day-to-day accounting activities, including preparing journal entries, maintaining general ledgers, and reconciling accounts. The Staff Accountant will assist with the preparation of tax returns for all entity types and help ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations. Additional responsibilities include analyzing financial data, supporting client engagements, and collaborating with senior team members to resolve accounting issues.
The role also involves maintaining organized records, meeting deadlines during busy seasons, and communicating clearly with clients and colleagues.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in accounting principles and practices, including general ledger maintenance and account reconciliation.
- Proficiency with accounting software, particularly Quick Books and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to interpret financial data, prepare basic financial statements, and support tax preparation processes.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with clients and collaborating with team members.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; eligibility or progress toward CPA certification is a plus.
- Willingness to learn, adapt to firm procedures, and maintain high ethical and professional standards.
- Prior experience in public accounting or an internship in an accounting firm is preferred but not required.
